| no partners | | This is my first trip into Aravaipa Canyon. I left the trail head at about 930. The creek was running hard from a storm the previous night and was very muddy as you can see in the photos. In some areas it was waste deep or better. With the temps it was refreshing to be able to jump in the water and cool off. I made it to camp around 1430. I got set up and began filtering some water which was a project due to the silt. I ended up using my dry bag as a bucket and letting the water sit for a while so the sediment would sink and make my job easier. While I waited I ended up swimming and enjoying the creek to cool off. After dinner when the sun went down I was reading my book and a Tarantula crawled through the site. Then next morning when I woke the creek level had gone down a few inches this made it easier to hike in the creek on the way out. I really enjoyed the area and when the weather cools down some more I want to go back and hike further into the canyon. |
