This trip was another "giddy at every turn" kind of trip. Joel and I headed out from the west TH, and I knew he was thinking EXACTLY what I was pondering last year on my first Aravaipa trip. That being, "Uh this gets better right?" Not to say the beginning is boring, just not as spectacular. Of course I knew what was in store.
As soon as the the canyon starts to come together, we see a group of 3. It ends up being tibber, desertgirl, and dabreeze. A great moment in my life for sure! We were given some good tips/info and then trekked on, slowly, like two photographers would. At about 4 miles in we found our "sunset shot" area. I am so glad we stopped where we did which was a few hundred yards from the Virgus entrance.
Day two was filled with abstracts, great light, and exploring of Virgus (oh and a bee that attacked Joel endlessly ). A very enjoyable day to say the least. I certainly saw more on the way out that on the way in and took WAY to many photos. One thing we did notice was anyone we came in contact with was generally ecstatic about life, as were we.
Again I feel like we didn't see anything in the grand scheme. So till next time I'll be thinking about it! |
