I wore all the cloths I had at the start with it being right about freezing.
We all started quick to try and get the body temp up. The forecast, was for 70 degrees and 10-14 mph winds. It never hit 70, and the wind was never lower than 14 mph for the day.
If you are skidish about about crossing creeks in a passenger car, beware. We had concerns about crossing the San Pedro River, but both the Focus and Corolla made it across with little trouble.
The first half of this hike had me thinking this section was going to be my 2nd least favorite. Flat, non-descript, nothing going on. Even Joe's banter couldn't spice things up.
What you did get from the beginning, was a view of the Supes. I was surprized.... The FlatIron, and Weavers Needle were as clear as could be.
We'd stopped for lunch at about the 1/2 way point, and things got better after that. We got some elevation and some views. Climbing the "Big Hill" showed us where we'd been for the last couple of hours.
Joe Drilled a well, and then we finally made it back to the car at the northern TH.
Thanks to Denny and Dave for driving.
Thanks to Joe for behaving for the most part.
Thanks to Frick for staying home, pretending to be sick. Wus...Doctors make the worst patients.
