| no partners | | I hadn't been on this trail before. I was confused a bit by the various triplogs but found it is no problem at all to find a wide well-cairned trail from the Crosscut parking lot to the "falls" (a black streak today). The trail comes off the sandy wash behind the parking lot near the lot's west edge.
I followed the trail to the cliff edge, just past the falls before realizing I needed to backtrack a bit to get to the falls area, which is a nice place to scramble around.
To spice it up I came back using mnlumberjack's suggestion to drop into the eastside drainage and then over the saddle between points 2990 and 2891. This is a fun detour with 1. light bushwacking down to the creek bed, 2. easy rock hopping, 3. light bushwacking to the saddle, 4. a longer bushwack down the hill (seems to be an incipient trail on the leftside much of the way), and 5. then a roadtrack to the left which eventually leads to the fenceline and gate. From here I retraced my steps back to the Crosscut trailhead. |
