With the prior two days of steady rain in the valley I felt this hike would be wonderful with flowing water. Late start at 0900, felt a little warm, overdressed (happy for it later though). Think I took a different route to the Crosscut Trail, didn't look like two weeks earlier. Climbing the saddle I heard the water flowing for the first time and this excited me. It was all around now and I took some time to explore a few little creeks and pools. When I reached the area near the wash that is harder to follow I was able to pick out the cairns and move through without getting lost. Water everywhere, what a treat. Since I was alone I took extra care hiking on wet slickrock areas, did some exploring and bushwacking up another side of the canyon. Rain opened up on me for a short period of time, adding to the sense of adventure. Coming back down below the saddle it's easy to lose the trail, backtracked a couple times for the right path. Really love this hike, this area. Vegas this weekend, planning a hike on the return. |
