Low lying clouds shrouded the Superstitions entirely as I approached my hike to see the water flow at Massacre Falls. The site was AMAZING and photos just couldn't do it justice. Don't worry this didn't stop me from capturing it the best I could! :)

I parked at the Crosscut Trailhead and headed out on the connector trail that leads to the former Massacre Falls parking area and the old trailhead. The path is well cairned and leads away from the cement slab in the corner of the parking lot. Once at the old trail head it is pretty easy to follow.

The whole time the rain continued to mist the skies but it was mild and bearable. The scenery with the clouds was sooo cool I couldn't hardly stand it. Anyway, once in the area of the Falls I went up the "Massacre Slab" as Joe calls it. A look over the edge will surely make you think.... From here it was a quick 5 minutes to hit the Falls proper. I could actually hear the waterfall flowing from the slab area. I was pretty much soaked by this time but it didn't matter one bit. I was in a super cool place and was thrilled to be there.

On the way out the clouds rolled in even closer and even lower. I was fully engulfed in a cloud as I started to head out. This wouldn't seem so unusual on top of a peak somewhere. But here in the area of Massacre Falls this has to be a rare event. On the way out the sun was setting. That combined with the low clouds and the shadows of the Superstitions was quite a site to see! What a great hike this was!
