| partners | | We did the smallest lasso-loop possible in the McDowells today on what was supposed to be a date hike day with just me and hubby. Plans originally called for Tom's Thumb loop starting from 104th lot. Then the Little Guy (now a year old!) George got hand-foot-mouth virus and kicked out of daycare for a few days - - so we had a plus one for the day! Amended plans were to just do Bell Pass and back with a break for lunch.
The tiniest lasso loop possible in the McDowells: from 104th lot to Levee - Crossover to Paradise up to Gateway Loop - to Crossover by the ruins - back to Levee.
George is not a fan of the Kelty. He's an ERGO kind of guy and this hike proved it. Caroline always loved the Kelty but George was bucking and whining and miserable. So I fashioned a baby carrier out of UPF50 blanket I had with me and carried him from Paradise back to parking lot. Having the backpack on balanced me out a little but by the end when he fell completely asleep - my left arm was numb. Lesson learned - George is an ERGO baby. Nice for travel since Kelty takes up ton of space and Caroline is a real hiker now out of all pouches and such.
Then with the weather so nice and we both had the day off we salvaged the rest of the afternoon with the jogging stroller at Greenbelt area by Mercado del Lago shopping center on Hayden. Had a picnic lunch in the shade with George playing toys quietly. Walked around the golf course and lakes just to soak up some of this beautiful winter weather. |
