| no partners | | | This destination is to a cliff dwelling where you have to leave reynolds creek trail and bushwack to the dwelling, to respect others who have not shown the exact location of the ruins my hiking partner Glutz and my self decided to follow suit. We drove up to the trail head on saturday night so we could get a early start sunday morning. Temps were probably down to low 20s that night, there is still patchy snow in the area and ice anywhere that has water. The bushwack is rough, probably worse when you don't know the exact route. Extremely heavy brush in places, Very steep scree fields with live rocks that keep moving and on this trip snow all over the place. The ruins were great, like so many in the area they are unique in they're own way. Built into an existing cave it had more area behind it than in it. it had 2 runways one that went back horizontally into the mountain and one that went upward at a steep angle and had a small opening into a confined space that was full of some sort of flying insects and a good dose of claustrophobia. it had a vertical space that was quite high with a small opening back out to the cliff face. The entire face of the cliff dwelling was completely obscured until you were only feet away from the entrance there will be no scanning with binoculars to find it. Once you look past the brush the views are stunning down over the Cherry creek lowlands |
