| partners | | This hike is definitely going on my top 5 list of favorite hikes (if I actually maintained such a list)! Everything worked out perfectly for Bruce1 and I. The snow that we feared turned out not to exist. The routes that we were unsure of went through without a hitch. The falls were flowing nicely and the weather was excellent!
When we arrived at the bottom of the falls, I wanted to see if it was possible to climb up the slope and small cliffs in front of us and get to the top or near to it. I was able to get up to within about 25 feet below the top. The slope was loose and littered with cactus. I actually took a prickly pear to the head. I didn't even know that was possible! Bruce waited for me for over an hour at the bottom and probably wondered if I was coming back. This would have been a good time to have 2-way radios (the ones we left in the car because we thought we wouldn't get split up). I also checked out some alcoves near the top cliff band. No signs of early habitation.
Fun hike! Thanks for inviting me Bruce (or did I invite myself?) and thanks for driving! |
