My 4x4 drive out on FR202 just past Sombrero Peak area and back to Cherry Creek Road. At the farthest point north I took a short .5 mile side-trip along FR2893 but realized I was running out of time and began the long trip back home to Mesa. (see below why I had to cut it short)
But this part of my day of exploring forest roads yielded a myriad of interesting places to check out.

Unfortunately earlier in the day driving west on the US 60 through Gold Canyon just before the sun was up the regulator stuck for a minute or two causing an overcharge from the alternator, which fried the headlights in no time at all.

I tried to wait for the voltage to drop down before going to the high-beams but with a DPS officer sitting on the side of the road I figured I better appear to have headlights when I went by.

The high beams lasted just the 20 seconds before I got past him. By that time I figured it was getting light and I at least had running lights. This is the second time this has happened when I had the headlights on so since there's a lifetime warranty on the alternator I will get a replacement.
