| no partners | | Having already climbed Scott Mountain and Peak 4470 today it was finally time to climb Hot Tamale Peak, which was the one that brought me out this way in the first place. Although the distance was about the same and it sported the same varieties of thorny vegetation as Scott Mountain, the steepness of Hot Tamale made it by far the toughest climb of the day. Thankfully it was short. The summit provided views very much like the previous two summits, but the views of Teapot Mountain and Sleeping Beauty were unsurpassed.
Although there was a rock cairn at the summit, alas there was no summit log. No matter, I just did more wandering around, including a jaunt over to the secondary summit which appeared to be a haven for Century Plants in all stages of life, growth, blooming and death. As usual the descent was the toughest part due to still dealing with an ailing left ankle. But by taking it slow and easy I made it without even so much as another scratch from the vegetation.
Now back to the Samurai I was faced with the every bit as physical drive, first down to Dripping Springs Road then back along FR899, 639, 2 and 349 to the US 60 across from the Pinto Mine.
I posted a dozen photos on HAZ with the full set of 29 Peak 4470/Hot Tamale Peak photos here:
