| partners | | Day 1 of my overnight trip up on my backyard hill with Pam. We first parked at the start of Twilight Canyon road and walked it down to the spur trail that leads up to Twilight Spring. The trail to the spring had several berry patches doing their thing along the way and in short time we arrived at the very lush spring area. There was a rainbow of flowers all around the spring along with a rainbow of flying fauna and it was very nice! We then returned back down to the road and continued on down to Twilight campground and through taking the old road/trail around the mountain side to the awesome Heliograph Peak view. We then walked Twilight road back to the vehicle and drove to the backside of the mountain picking Snow Flat for our overnight campsite. Before setting up camp, we hiked down the short out & back Snow Flat trail which packs a lot of scenic punch for only 1 mile round trip! We then set up camp which we had all to ourselves and settled in for the night. Pinalenos are still under full fire restrictions and I am sure more then once Pam had to hear about how much I hate to camp without a fire!!!
Great day 1 to the trip! FYI - 4am July mountain temp - 48 degrees! |
