Day 4 of my Dispersed Camping/Hiking Trip to the Pinalenos. I drove down the hill and got ice and gas and picked up Chad, who was going to Camp overnight with me on the Mountain. Chad picked out Twilight Spring to do first, so we parked right at the Turnoff for the Campground and walked partly in on the road. We turned left at a Cairn and got on a Spur Trail that takes you to the Spring.

Going up and around several ridges, we enjoyed some nice Overlook views on the way. The Trail became almost choked with Raspberry bushes and the Raspberries were just getting ripe, so we got to enjoy some wonderfully sweet fruit on the way as well. We did try to save some for the Bears, who left several signs along the Trail as well. They will be in Raspberry Heaven in about a week.... :D

Arrived at the Spring area and had to smack Chad for being a smart pumpkin about how beautiful the Spring was. Apparently the Spring provides water for the Cabins at Turkey Flat, so all you really see are pipes and boxes. :oplz: There was a little flow from the upper box to the lower pipes, but the Scenery of the Day was the amazing Flora in the area of the Spring! WOW! Blooms everywhere with Butterflies and Hoverflies enjoying the bounties.... :D It was amAZing!!! We spent quite awhile here, just enjoying the area and taking pictures....

After a bit, we headed back out, snacking on some more Raspberries before hitting the Campground Road once again. We followed the Road to the Campground and I was thoroughly impressed. Twilight Campground is still considered an Undeveloped Campsite, but holy cow is it nice! : app : It was so nice in fact, that Saturday night after dropping Chad back off at his vehicle, I drove back into this Campground and spent the night. What was even more amAZing was the fact that it was Saturday night, there were a ton of people on the Mountain, and I still had this place all to myself.... :y: And to top it off, the next morning I sat and watched a young, male White Tail Deer wander around for a bit in the Campground. He was very skittish, but I did manage to get a couple of pics that I will include with this Hike Photoset.

After checking out the Campground, we continued on past the Campground on an old abandoned road. It was a nice Hike and went quite a ways back around to a couple more areas with nice Overlooks, before ending. The Road/Trail ended just across the Canyon from Heliograph Peak, which was pretty cool to see from that perspective. We rested for a bit there before heading back, stopping at some of the Overlooks for more Photo Opportunities.

The weather had been interesting the last few days. It's Overcast for most of the afternoon, and threatens to Rain, but never quite gets with it. So we Hiked with Overcast, dark skies again, and never got rained on. It was pretty humid and I had a little bit of a harder time today, as the legs were still recovering from Webb Peak yesterday, but it was still a good Hike with lots of payoffs. Thanks Chad, another great choice!!! : app :
