| no partners | | I got off work early (yippee!!), the weather was beautiful, so I grabbed my camera and headed out for the San Pedro. It has been running, and muddy, and I wanted to go see what was up. I also know there's a family of black hawks living down there, and I wanted to see if I could find them. I walked upstream on the San Pedro to the confluence of the Aravaipa and the San Pedro, then back down stream for a ways just looking at the dense vegetation, and looking for critters. I saw a bird high in a tree that I suspect is a Common Black Hawk, but couldn't get close enough to identify markings. I also saw a Vermillion Fly Catcher, that landed in a branch out in front of me. Then as I walked some more, a Great Blue Heron landed not too far in front of me. Way cool!! Then as I was walking back through the gate to the road, I kept hearing a screaming hawk. When I could finally get him located, I got a picture of him too. I strongly suspect he is a Mississippi Kite. But again, I couldn't get quite close enough for identifying pics to be sure. But what a great way to end a work week! |
