Beautiful day - great hike. An Arizona Outdoor Travel Club "A" hike led by legendary leader Don Mowry and an all-star cast of hikers. Including AZ-Outdoorsman whose knowledge of the Supes really adds to the experience. Heartfelt thanks because without his knowledge and guidance several of my most memorable photos would have been missed opportunities.
Out on Second Water Trail to Black Mesa Trail to Bull Pass Trail. Up to Black Top Mesa.
The views from Black Top Mesa are stunning. This is one of the best vantage points in this part of the Supes. Several of the group found the rock-carvings mentioned in Carlson & Stewart's "Hiker's Guide to the Superstitions".
Back down to the Bull Pass Trail Junction but took a Bull Pass Parallel Trail to Needle Canyon to pick up the Lost Dutchman Trail. In on the Lost Dutchman Trail past the Crested Saguaro, past Aylor's Arch, past Dead Widow's Cove and the impressive giant Saguaro above it. |
