| no partners | | We left Cherokee at our campsite on FR609 heading up the first few hundred feet of actual trail, which soon faded to nothing. Next came bushwhacking through pines, heavy brush and Manzanita until we hit the first burned area. The going was easy here until climbing to the first summit along the way, Peak 6564. Just short of the summit the heavy brush returned, dogging us off and on until the saddle before the last climb to the Copper Mountain summit. The last segment was burned area so again we made good time.
After signing the summit log and taking the requisite summit video and photos we headed back. Tracey didn't care for so much bushwhacking so on the return trip we stayed in the burned areas as much as possible. While some folks hate to see the devastation after a fire, I do not, after all it is simply nature at work. (This fire was lighting-ignited, but even if it were not there would still be a rebirth.)
