| no partners | | Anna and I spent several hours exploring this area in the White Mountains. Most of our travel was by 4x4. We also hiked through the forest to a quiet meadow where we kicked back and just listened to the yellow aspen leaves quaking in the breeze. The signs of volcanic activity from many years ago is evident. Volcanic rock is everywhere, similar to what I've also found on top of Escudilla Mtn. Although, there were pockets of aspen that were at or just before peak color, most of the aspen in this area probably reached peak color last week. I'm sure the Thursday storm activity from just two days earlier, probably stripped many of the trees of their last leaves.
We began our 4x4 adventure on FSR 117 just off the 60. From there, we cruised up to Green's Peak for a grand view at 10000 feet. We came back down the mountain, then drove west on FSR 61 and even further west on FSR 96 until we reached Vernon-McNary Rd. We headed back towards Green's Peak on our way out, and picked up 117 south towards the 260. From there, we drove to our camp in Nutrioso. Beautiful day at 8000-10000 feet. |

| This is my gym. I have to travel down a bumpy road to get there. There are no treadmillls, no machines, and no personal trainers. I walk..I run..I breathe the fresh air. I can go any time I want, as much as I want and there is no membership fee. |
