| no partners | | Chose Sycamore at Bushnell tanks because it was about the same distance from my house as some friends who live in North Scottsdale. We left our houses at the same time and arrived at the junction of 87/Saguaro Lake turn-off within seconds of each other. We continued on towards the Sunflower exit at Bushnell Tanks and started our hike from the gated off closed road.
No one in our group was ready to get their feet wet, so staying dry became the challenge of the day. This sometimes meant backtracking along the trail to find some boulders to hop. The kids thought this was fun...like solving a puzzle on a video game. Occasionally, it was necessary to toss a log or new rock into the creek when a dry step wasn't available.
We made it back to a couple of rope swings where we took a break and let the "kids" play. I guess the word "kids" includes all of us. After 15 minutes of swinging, we moved on. Never quite made it to the first boxed in part of the creek due to our easy pace and side explorations.
Our friends had to get back home at a certain time, so we turned back the way we came. My son, Justin, was the only one who got a shin high soaker, after he had stepped on a floating log that went under the second he stepped on it. Not to worry, dry shoes awaited all of us back at the car. |

| This is my gym. I have to travel down a bumpy road to get there. There are no treadmillls, no machines, and no personal trainers. I walk..I run..I breathe the fresh air. I can go any time I want, as much as I want and there is no membership fee. |
