I hadn't been up Humphreys for a few years so I thought I would take advantage of this excellent weather we're having.
Away from the parking lot around 0600ish - by headlamp for about 30 mins. Trail has occasional snow & hard ice so I put on the instep helpers. Did take one hard fall anyway but mostly only pride hurt - glad nobody saw that.
Cold early. When I got to the saddle my right hand was going numb from cold - very unusual for me. Generally, as long as I keep moving I don't usually get cold. After a couple of minutes hesitation I continued and all cleared up within 10 minutes. Walking in the sun warmed things up considerably.
Absolutely beautiful day for a peak stroll.
Had the trail to myself until about 1/2 mile to the summit when one of those trail trotters passed me by - you know the type, shorts, t-shirt, tennis shoes, big smile, etc. Don't you just hate those guys? Just kidding - he was real nice and we chatted a bit and he took my photo for me.
Met several parties coming up on the way down.
All in all a great day to be in the mountains - good hike.
