I was studying the maps before we left and realized we were a nice quad ride to the Salome Jug trail head. Convinced some of my friends who rarely hike, and if they do, it is in the big city, to explore it with me. It was a perfect hike, not to tough. But the Jug itself is pretty intimidating. There was a lot of water and very limited access. You really need climbing gear, or wait until the water subsides to gain access to the deeper parts of the canyon. Very impressive canyon. I wish I could have seen more. My fellow hikers would not even get close enough to the edges to see the water, and I cant blame them it is 30 to 40' straight down. Great experience, everyone was glad they walked the walk. |
