We followed the route described here on our way up the mountain, then opted for a much easier descent that took us down the North side and around the mountain (via trail) in a clockwise direction back towards the car.
This is a neat little peak that's very accessible, close to home, and has some really nice views of the surrounding desert. Oh, and just wait until you take a look over the edge near the summit! Matt and I ran into two sets of bighorn, the first being a couple large males with a nice set of horns near the base of the mountain. The other group was about a hundred yards from the summit. With a little help from a headwind, we were able to get close. I would estimate about 30 yards from the males before they noticed us, and less than 20 yards from the group at the top. Pretty exciting day! |
