| no partners | | I decided to try the unlisted but obvious trail up this time instead of the boulder crack from the East. The route is easy to track from above and Google Earth but a little spotty while on the ground. A bunch of switchbacks make the elevation gain less noticeable. Once past the pass, I'd suggest using the GPS only for a reference every now and then. There are a few cairns but the trail is mostly missing and the path of less resistance should be yours. As long as you are headed in the general direction there is nothing to worry about but it may task the morale of newer hikers.
No sheep spottings but plenty of fresher droppings at the top. The log reported a few visits this month but some months only see one per. I turned on Backcountry Nav on the phone for the trip down since I hadn't seen the officialer route from the TH on the north side. I made it there in the Civic. It's doable if you stay high with all four wheels. |
