After two solid days in the canyon, I was feeling it a little bit and decided against the original plan for a morning summit of Battleship. Instead, we decided to grab a couple of short hikes on the way home.

First up was Red Butte. We cruised up in about 35 minutes, and then spent nearly an hour talking to Bruce, the longtime lookout up there who had just arrived for the season a couple of days earlier. Great stories, history, and information from an old pro!

We passed another hiker on the way down, but other than him, it was a quiet day on the butte.
