Initially, I thought I would return to hike the trail in the canyon, but after yesterday in Ventana Canyon, I knew the water in Pontatoc would not compare. So, I opted to repeat this. I also went to the mine (by accident) and then the peak of sorts, where I spent some time. I like this trail, if I lived nearby I would combine it with Pusch Peak for regular shorter outings and then use the longer (4000'+) trails for harder hikes a few times a month. This hike and Pusch probably offer the best training hiking around.

The wind was picking up from the time I hit the peak to the trailhead. It was perfect weather, and a nice way to enjoy a spring hike in the "low desert".

Just getting started, but this area doesn't appear to have a lot of flowers. Brittle brush is just starting, as are the purple snap dragons. Catalina Mountain must make up for it by having a lot of Saguaro flowers.
