The creek crossing at nearly 2.9 miles in is a nice stop and there was some water for the dog to enjoy. After that, the uphill opens up a lot of nice views of the canyon. The top is a let down, but the canyon is over well before then. Stats are taken from the sign at the top of the trail, at the end.
BTW, there is no staff manning the office at Oliver Lee SP, and the self service fee station only accepts cash. I was not paying $20 for the day, and since the ticket they leave tells you to deposit money in the fee station or visit the office, which is closed and has a sign saying they have no money to fund staff, I opted to ignore and will simply not pay. They claim a $25 administrative fee will be added to the price, but if you can't break money and don't staff a park office on a Saturday at 1100 or 1710, how can you expect everyone to pay? |
