The parking lot was full, so we assumed we would see many others on our journey, but we were wrong! As we headed in we had two adults and three young boys go by as they finished up their backpacking trip. We then passed two guys who were also headed to the falls.
The trail is like a super highway, my kind of trail! We made it up to the saddle in an hour and 20 minutes, the GPS said we had gone 3.7 miles. The down wasn't as fast going with a few slippery spots of little ball bearing pebbles.
We made it to the water and neither of us wanted to take a break knowing the falls were so close. We just wanted to get to them. There were several mini falls and large pools to enjoy as we made our way up. The first sighting of the falls was really unexpected for me. I didn't think I was going to be overly impressed, my expectations were far exceeded. We spent a good hour exploring and enjoying the mist from the falls.
As we headed back out, we ran into the two guys again. What a treat we got to have the place to ourselves until we were done! |
