| no partners | | One of my many camping trips to one of the two campgrounds at the upper end of Carr Canyon Road. Most of the time I camp and hike from Reef Townsite, as was the case this time. I found out long ago that the best time to visit this sky island paradise is during the monsoon season (July-September). The brutal intensity of the summer sun will be tempered by clouds and cooling thunderstorms. Late May and June before the storms arrive is just too toasty, in spite of the elevation. This place absolutely comes alive and will rock your world with great beauty and zillions of wildflowers if you wait for the rain!  |
