| no partners | | I got to spend Thanksgiving 1997 at the Nature Conservancy's Aravaipa Canyon Preserve Guest House near the east end. This was an event put together by the Nature Loop singles group. It was limited to 10 people, with the participants sharing in the preparation and enjoyment of a Thanksgiving meal. It turned out to be a fun time, made memorable by being able to stay in that neat old ranch house with the big screened porch! There was some rain when we arrived, but it didn't persist, so we had decent weather for exploring around the area. About half of us slept out on that porch, which was excellent. For outdoor activities we hiked up Turkey Creek to see the small cliff dwelling and enjoy the beautiful canyon. On another day some piled into the back of my truck and I drove them up to see some of the remnants of the mining ghost town of Aravaipa.
While at the guest house, with its expansive grounds, we were treated to javalina and coatamundi visits (pretty much a regular thing). I came across the photos from this trip recently, and since it is almost Thanksgiving, I scanned them into the computer and figured some of you would enjoy seeing them.  |
