It looked more like winter up there then summer, but not totally surprising due to the huge storm that moved in and dropped rain all night & early morning across Graham county. Anyways, I had planned on a high forest hike today, but that was not gonna happen so I hit up Grahams little brother to the south (Greasewoods) and hiked up into Cove Canyon.
Arrived at the TH around 2pm to perfect 78deg temps and hiked in on the jeep trail. This was my first trip out in 2 years and I had forgotten just how scenic this hidden little cove valley is! I soon arrived at the trails end by the meadow to hear water running down the big wash from last nights rains. This area had some good flooding during the night which I followed down the canyon to many cool little light chocolate waterfalls! I then off-trailed across the valley hooking back up with the trail at the high saddle and took it back down to my truck.
I was hoping for pines today, but Cove Canyon was a great one to hold me over until next week! |
