"yes?"
"would you mind too terribly if we didn't camp tonight?"
well, no. it wasn't a big inconvenience not to set up in the rain. this wasn't our ultimate destination for this weekend, but i didn't mind. elden had been mocking me for quite some time so i was more than happy to have it gone from the list. every time i had driven by elden in the past four years or so, it had been mocking me - teasing me with its tower. now it was over.
the part i am still wondering about is the part where it seems like at one point people were unsure how to spell it. in my tower book, it spells this one "eldon." everywhere else it is elden, as the name of the homesteaders themselves spelled it. so why the confusion? all of the reference marks and benchmarks seem to have both spellings listed.
