Decided to take it easy for a while and not hiking for a month was driving me crazy. Finally my knees feel better and I was happy to start of my year with a hike up to the Flatiron today!
Got to the trail head at 6:45am to wait for the sun to rise before I started the hike to the top and it was nice to see the sky go from stars to sunlight! The trail was pretty much empty my entire way up and I got to the top in about an hour and thirty minutes. I walked out to the edge of the Flatiron and went east around the Southern edge until I met up with the Ridge Line Trail. The views were awesome as always and I sat on a cliff and had a snack while enjoying the scenery.
On my way down The trail was full of people. I feel like i passed more than 100 at the very least. Not a single orange arrow to be seen and I just want to say THANK YOU to the awesome HAZ'ers who were part of the removal project. A great start to my year and I have my eyes set on the Chiricahua Monument soon |
