This was the longest solo hike that I have ever done in my life! This was also my first time on Second Water Trail, Boulder Canyon Trail and my first trip to the top of Battleship Mountain!

I started off from the First Water Trailhead at 6:40am. The sun was just beginning to rise and the sky looked awesome! Hustled down the Second Water Trail at a good pace and soon Battleship Mountain was in view. What a sight that was, I got very excited at the thought that I would soon be standing on top of it!

Made my way down to the canyon and what's that I hear? Flowing water? Awesome!!! :y: The Canyon was beautiful and I didn't realize that there would be so much water. Heading south, I just stepped/hopped from boulder to boulder in the water whenever I could rather than walk on the sides :GB: Kept my eyes to the East looking for my opportunity to get up to the South base of Battleship and saw a cairn...now we're in business!

Went pretty slow picking my route up and realized I had gone to far to the left. Came back around to the South side closer to the alcove and saw my way up. Climbing up there was a large loose stone that I knew to look out for from reading trip logs past.. thanks HAZ! Cruised along the ridge and had lots of fun along the way. Passed the narrow ridge and made it up the left side to the edge of the mountain and then hit the peak on my way back.

Amazing views everywhere...Geronimo's Head, La Barge Canyon, Weaver's Needle, Canyon Lake.
After checking out the sights I took a break to eat and rest, then started the trip back. Made it back with no issues other than having totally submerged both of my boots in water, oops. Saw a rabbit, one tarantula and some cool frogs along the way. This was a great hike and definitely time well spent. I've been having such an awesome time hiking lately and I still have so much to see and do out there...it's a fantastic feeling! :y:
