I started at the Columbine/Ash Creek trailhead at 4:30 pm, and went straight up to Webb Peak on the short segment of trail 345. After a walk in the clouds and a climb up the tower, I decided to take the longer segment of the trail back, via the Ash Creek Trail. I came across a big aspen grove off the trail at sunset, set up my tripod, and fumbled with camera filters in the sprinkling rain. I arrived at the Ash Creek Trail at dark, and started back up to the trailhead. I got back just as it was getting too dark to see. The longer segment of the loop is definately more scenic, but the whole hike is great, and very satisfying. |
