| no partners | | Started down Tanner trail from Lippan Point at about 12:30pm on Friday, first mile of the trail had some slick icy sections. We camped Friday night about a mile down stream from Tanner rapids on the beach. Saturday was the Escalante Route, really just a rugged trail, obstacles were minor. We came face to face with a Bighorn Sheep on one of the routes high points. Camped at the "Octopus Mesquite tree" campsite near the New Hance rapids on Saturday night. Woke up at 4:00am ready to hike on Sunday, but couldn't manage to talk the others into leaving until 7:45am. I managed to get to the top by about noon and was able to hitch a ride back to Lippan Point after only about 10 min of walking down the road. We only saw one person in 3 days out. River seemed pretty low, very dry out there. |
