| no partners | | Rather than follow paulshikleejr's loop route, I did a figure 8, which added a smidgen of mileage. Can't explain our 111 feet difference in AEG, 179 to 290. Started at the ramada TH, cut south of the Elliott Ramada and did a clockwise loop of the N butte, then back to Elliott and W along the golf course and back to TH.
Two highlights. The cold water at the drinking fountain and two honeybees wallowing side by side in the pollen of a magenta hedgehog bloom. Birds: White-Crowned Sparrow, Gambel's Quail, Curve-Billed Thrasher, Mockingbird and Cactus Wren.
Guy pulled up in parking lot as I left, pulled out some large binos and said he was off to search for ruby-faced Love Birds. He'd read an online report that one was sighted in the park and it got his wife all excited. They should try our neighborhood in central Phoenix. A good number of wild Love Birds in there. Not much human traffic for a Saturday afternoon in March. Guess that should be a highlight too. |
