I loaded her in the Ergo carrier gave her a snack and within 15 min. she was asleep. She slept for 1.5 hours and provided a good 26 lb. training weight. I did the entire circumference of the park including Section 16 up to the Inteman trail which follows a section of the Ring the Peak I haven't been on. Micah walked the last quarter of the hike. I didn't bring the gps but with the trail map I'd estimate 6-8 miles and the base of the open space to the high point was over 1000' so I was pretty happy with doing the hike carrying my little 26 pounder. I wish I had the pack on the balance her out. There is a way to carry her like a back pack instead of in front, but I haven't learned the trick to get her situated and be able to get all the straps connected. My wife said she'd teach me the trick next time. I didn't realize how big this area is and will be back more often because I pass it whenever I come into town. It also has pretty well maintained trails so I'm more likely to get my family out in this area. Good birding area with the reservoirs and a great variety of scenery for being in town. |
