| no partners | | Two for Tuesday! Decided to do Quandary and get some turns in the afternoon. Lots of snow. I think the extra work of wading through snow was worth the views at the top, but following any kind of track in the treeline was impossible. Route finding and backtracking in the treeline both going up and down to get out of the postholing accounted for the extra AEG and distance. Postholing in the treeline and pretty slick and slushy up top. Needless to say I only got or wanted 2 hours of skiing after this hike. T-storms waited until I was done skiing and the weather was perfect. The winter hiking set up worked great except a velco strap broke on my right shoe on the way up to hold the liner in place so I rubbed a quater size wound into my shin. Feet were warm and no worse for wear. Oh and I spent quite a bit of time with a curious Mountain Goat who appeared from no where. Great Day!
