| no partners | | Headed up to Pine to spend the weekend with some neighbors who have a cabin there. Was her birthday. Was also the Arizona Trail Gateway City event and we wanted to support Sirena in her through hike to raise funds and awareness for the AZT.
Saturday the friends needed to go into Payson for a bit, so we packed a lunch and took a detour along the East Verde on the way back. We tried a few different ways to get down from FR 209 to the river with differing degrees of success and manzanita and catclaw scratches. Some areas have a nice little trail along the river and we thoroughly enjoyed those.
Had lunch under a shady tree and tossed small bread balls to the fingerling trout in the pool below us. Considered taking a swim in some of the larger pools, but the low water level is turning a bit green in the current heat.
All in all, not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon. |
