| partners | | Headed up to Pine to spend the weekend with some neighbors who have a cabin there. Was her birthday. Was also the Arizona Trail Gateway City event and we wanted to support Sirena in her through hike to raise funds and awareness for the AZT.
Attended the Gateway City event at That Brewery Saturday night. Was a lot of fun. Got to meet Sirena and her Dad (the support team) which was a treat. Also finally met Tibber and Ambika. After following them on HAZ for so long, it was strange in a nice way meeting people you already considered good friends. The evening was good libations, good food, good music, good people and a good time.
We all rendezvoused at the Pine Trailhead Sunday morning to hike with Sirena. She also had arranged for us to hike with three llamas. At least they had more wool on their face than me. Like me, they live to tote packs on trails, so we got along great. They never spit at me once.
After a mile or so hiking with the group and the llamas, five of us split off to hike a bit further up the Highline/AZT. The elevation, going uphill, and my recent chest cold (still no voice, which was a blessing to all those around me this weekend) was kicking my both my posterior and fronterior pretty well after a while, so I readily agreed when the four ladies in the group suggested we retreat down to town for a nice brunch.
We linked up with Sirena and her Dad for brunch and all ate very well as we (well they) swapped trail stories and Grand Canyon rafting stories between bites of great food.
The whole weekend was a lot of fun in the company of some fine people. |
