| no partners | | | Alta Peak is a must do for those looking for a challenging peak bag close to the main park. I started from the Wolverton trailhead and my GPS showed exactly 7 miles to the top. The trail signage said 6.7, so I imagine it's within that range. Most of the trail was covered in snow above 9,000ft when I hiked it on Memorial Day weekend, and the last quarter mile was completely buried. I still managed to reach the summit, forgot to sign the register though... Alta is an awesome hike with an incredible view of the Western Sierras! |
