| no partners | | I had originally planned to visit Lassen Volcanic National Park on Sunday and Monday during this 4th of July weekend, as this was one of a select few weekends that the Lassen Peak trail would be open due to maintenance. So after we finished the hike on Shasta, Matt and I drove over to the park where I had already reserved two nights at Manzanita Campground. Sunday was the last available day until late August so we had to go for it.
Then we found out the park was having their "Reach Higher Trail Challenge" and we couldn't resist doing all 7 hikes to earn the endurance master status. So in two days we completed all of the hikes detailed in the brochure to earn a commemorative bandana. It was a really fun way to explore the park! These were the criteria:
1) Take and interpretive hike
2) Explore a meadow
3) Loop around a lake
4) Walk about a watershed
5) Hike to a hydrothermal area
6) Discover a hidden gem
7) Climb a volcano |
