| no partners | | Last minute, spur of the moment, Flatiron campout is what I call this one. I really wanted to try out my new tent... so off I went. Started hike just after 9pm from Mining Camp restaurant parking lot. It was pretty warm out. Siphon Draw solo, in the dark is slightly creepy, but not too bad. I had to check all my hand holds for scorpions before placement. I saw quite a few on the way up, but saw none up on top. It took me a while to get up there. I was paranoid about snakes and scorpions. Not a soul on the Flatiron, just a cool breeze. Awesome view with silence except the occasional barking of dogs down in A.J.
I didn't sleep long, woke up with the sunrise. I packed up and did a little exploring up on top before heading down, while the temperature went up. I saw about 10-15 people on there way up. |
