Where to start.... Two things became very clear to me today. Number one(and the most obvious) I am TOTALLY out of shape!! 
I don't think I could have made it to the top if I had wings. Number two - I now know why it is so hard to save the Wild place in America, there are way, way too many people that don't understand what the "wilderness" or "outdoors" are or what they used for ](https://hikearizona.com/dex2/images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif "Brick wall")
Now, the others have done a very good job describing the negative comments that we received from our fellow hikers on the trail while we were volunteering our time.( We also receicved many good comments as well but as the saying goes " one OH 
! wipes out two AT A BOYS " I, on the other hand don't have the patience or tact that these saints have, God bless them! I have ZERO patience for ignorance and even less for people that use that ignorance to try and insult me. I had half a dozen people angrily question what I was doing and letting me know how stupid it was that I was doing it. One, rather unpleasant woman let me know that now that "I" removed the markers people are going to get lost! And she wanted to know what I thought about that?!? "Well.... If someone can get lost on the trail up to Flatiron.... Maybe they should be out here..." She glared into my eyes, scoffed and stormed off 
I HATE STUPID PEOPLE! 
I have much less of that warm fuzzy feeling I got from doing this last year 
But I will never stop doing whatever I can to clean, maintain and improve the outdoors
