| partners | | My Nephew was in from Maryland and wanted to do an Iconic Valley hike. It doesn't get much more Iconic than the Flatiron with a sprinkling of Peak 5024. The Eaglet was off work too, so we got the band back together. (Eaglet had done the Flatiron with me once before when he was 12, 15 years ago, in July when we were Newbies to the state).
The weather was perfect starting at 9:30. We saw few groups coming down on our way up. We had all day and did a bunch of exploring (Some actually planned).
Our unplanned tour was to the south, getting off the established track, but on a use track. Though it might pan out going up a new way. Just a time waster. My nephew is a bit afraid of heights, so he didn't get too close to the edge of the Flatiron when we got up there.
Next up was Peak 5024. I took them past the Plane Crash Memorial on the way up and then to Peak 5024 from the west. They enjoyed the 360 views of Arizona from this vantage point. The views were pretty big with relatively clear skies.
The masses showed up on our way down. Bikini Girl, Loud Techno Music Guy, Shirtless guys that should not have been Shirtless, Lady requesting more Blue Dots, Canteen Boy, even Bright OrangeJuliusJ, and JohnnyLongPlay.
A great day making memories with parts of the family.... |
