| no partners | | Attended a retreat for our firm at the Wigwam this weekend and went out with a few of my partners for a pre-meeting, early morning hike in the White Tanks. My first time hiking in this range. We were on the trail by around 5:30 a.m., so avoided the heat, though the air was still a bit humid. We wanted to do a loop, but didn't have the time (or desire to get up any earlier ...), so we just did an out and back. Made it a ways beyond the old dam before turning around. The "tanks" still had water in them from last week's big rainstorm, though they were drying up fast. I'm sure that wash was quite an impressive scene with the runoff. Based on the debris along the side of the wash, it looks like the water was running 6 feet deep (or more) in places. The mosquitoes were out in force. Luckily, one of my partners had some bug spray, which saved us all from needing a transfusion later in the day ...
Looking forward to returning to the White Tanks again to do more exploring. |
