Beautiful hike with the family around Saguaro Lake via the Butcher Jones trail. Frost on the ground and a thin layer of ice over the pools near the edge of the lake with "smoke" rising from the water as the sun warmed the area. That said, a light jacket was all that was needed, and even that was shed not too far into the hike. We had the trail to ourselves on the way out, and then began to run into a few more folks on the return trip. Views of the snow-covered Four Peaks with Burro Cove in the foreground were fantastic. Love this hike. Our 9-year-old niece joined us. Her Mom was worried she would be a whiner, as she's not a very experienced hiker, but she did awesome--no whining or complaining. She described it as "hard, but fun." I always love it when young folks can use those two terms in the same sentence. :)
