| no partners | | Hiked a 6.7 mile loop with Nancy and Barbara. We went clockwise on Lower Summit, Summit and Mountain Lake Trails. Started and finished at the Mountain Lake picnic area TH. This is an amazingly beautiful hike! Treed all the way, lots of switchbacks, soft trail (by AZ standards), CCC built (1936) tower at top!, Views sweeping from Vancouver BC, Bellingham, Anacortes, Mount Baler to Olympic Peninsula. Little too cloudy to see Rainer. Get there by taking Ferry from Anacortes to Orcas Island and driving or biking to Moran State Park. Mount Constitution, 2,500', is in the center of Moran State Park. It is the highest mountain in the San Juan islands. Hike passes 4 lovely mountain lakes. Wow camping in several areas on Mountain Lake. Trout in the lakes. 5 Kokopelli hike!
