Pictures are on Black Mesa with Weaver's Needle in background plus a water report on bulletin board at TH. Saw elaborate (mining?) tent camp in Boulder Canyon. Even had stove in tent! Also heard, then saw saw a drone a couple of miles further west. I've rarely done day hikes this long and none since Superstition Ridgeline in 2006 or 2007. We were back at TH at noon and TH lot was full. We 3 plus Pam, Mike Marx and Darryl hiked to Parker Pass and back on T204 Thursday morning Feb 4. That went fine so we 3 did the longer hike today. This loop is a mix of super smooth trail mixed with very rocky conditions during elevation change. Not difficult. About 3 mph on the smooth parts. Probably as low as 1 mph for this old guy going up rocky spots. A goodly amount of water along the way but it's drying. Photos include a not great photo of Feb 4 water report. |
