They headed to Phoenix in the late afternoon, but I was Flagstaff bound, so I decided to check out Watson. Parked by the boat dock on the west side. I really wanted to see the east side of the lake for sunset, but it was a little too much of a task to get there in the time I had, especially considering that I had never been to the area and it seemed easy to get lost there after dark as such. Went to the dam and then slowly headed back. Did a bit of off-trail scrambling in some areas that seemed straight-forward. Them granite dells sure are pretty at sunset, and the lake is alright too. Lotta noise from kayakers bantering amongst themselves though. Had a good time, would definitely go back to check out more. I want to park on the south end next time and walk up the east shore. |
