| no partners | | I had plans to head up from Highway 89 via Blind Hollow trail, but alas, more sleep was more enticing. I started at Tony Grove Lake and took my time getting to the peak. This trail reminded me of something that would be in the Sierras albeit the rock isn't granite.
Naomi has some good views of Logan Canyon and you can see into Idaho so that's pretty cool. Taking the trail back to the car seemed mundane so I opted to follow the ridgeline south/southeast to a trail that would lead me back to the lake. The first section was really steep with mostly solid footing, except for the slippery contouring. After that it's a gentle ridge walk with insane amounts of scat everywhere.
I didn't take the time to load my track onto my GPS so I wasn't exactly sure where I'd meet up with the trail. I thought I found it at one point, but it was just a very, very well traveled game trail that came to an end sooner than expected. I wasn't lost, I just didn't know where my path-of-least-resistance was at. I passed some cows but they weren't any help at all, running off before I could have a word with them.
The ridgeline started to drop down into an aspen grove so I figured my trail would be there because of where it was in relation to the lake. Somewhere on the way down, my shoe plowed into a beautiful cowpie. The good news is that my trail was there and I was able to have a brush-free walk back to the lake.
"Just take the trail back next time."
Thanks, Captain Hindsight! |
